Job Description, Duties & Responsibilities  

This role is key in supporting the company’s growth by way of partnering with OEMs. The Project Manager will serve as the main liaison between CAP’s engineering and manufacturing departments and the OEM’s engineering and business teams. The PM will set schedules, communicate progress, trouble shoot and problem solve to ensure deadlines are met and the product delivery remains on track.

  • Participates in the establishment of the Business Plan for the accounts
  • Formalizes and negotiates the customer's goals (Technical specification and development timing) for the project stages
  • Responsible for application of customer's technical specifications
  • Plans and coordinates all the technical development activities, short and long term, for the OEM accounts
  • Plans and organizes submissions in liaison with the customer and internal departments
  • Determines and communicates the anticipated technological evolutions between CAP and the OEM customer
  • Communicates the results of the customer's tests to CAP engineering and propose, if necessary, an action plan for subsequent submissions
  • Supplies all various necessary information from the customer to pass the project stages
  • Manages technical visits between CAP and the OEM customer
  • Responsible for administration and archiving of OEM external documents
  • Provides input to and monitor the Clean Air Power development budget for the OEM customer

Qualifications, Education, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Required:
    • Must have 5+ years proven experience managing OEM relationships
    • BSME or equivalent required
    • Must have truck, automotive, diesel and/or natural gas background
    • Must understand Clean Air Power's technology, existing products and services, as well as the concept and technology of the OEM project
    • Must have proven experience in management of OEM relationships, including understanding project delivery, time management and how to deal with unanticipated events and unforeseen conditions
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information, correspondence and procedures; proficiently write and process reports
    • Ability to self-initiate activities, effectively multi-task, prioritize and coordinate tasks, and strong attention to detail and follow-up
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Must build and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with other departments in the organization, as well as third parties (i.e. maintaining flexibility, adaptability and an approachable and friendly demeanor with competing priorities, demands and diverse work styles); must take direction and work effectively with staff members at all times
    • Maturity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
    • Strong typing and computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position requires working on or around heavy duty diesel engines, natural gas engines, and their corresponding trucks.  The employee must be able to ride in standard trucks, climb around engines, and install/remove engine components.  This position also requires the employee to climb a ladder, maneuver in tight places, and use mechanics tools, sometimes slightly off-balance or at odd angles.

In addition to the above, this job requires that the employee frequently sit, talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to type data, operate business machines, dial the telephone and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 20-25 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment

This position involves time spent in an office environment, in a test cell and its control room, in a machining area and in the field.  The noise level in the work environment varies from low to very loud, depending upon location and activities being performed in the location at the time. Working temperatures will vary from regulated office temperature to warmer than ambient near hot exhaust. Exposure to oil, diesel, natural gas and coolant is occasional. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and required in accordance with Cal-OSHA guidelines.
